The paper have now acknowledged this was a lie, apologised & been forced to pay damages

Is suing papers for lying about Muslims the best way to stop this stream of Islamophobia?

The scale of the issue of structural Islamophobia in sections of British media should not be under-estimated.

These libel cases are only the tip of the iceberg. There are so many stories that are just flat out wrong, which @cfmmuk leads on getting corrected.

Change is needed

The ideal is for the structures to improve so that Islamophobia is not so prevalent in the output of national newspapers

And at @MuslimCouncil and @cfmmuk, we try to engage proactively with senior executives / managing editors, to improve coverage

But there's a long way to go
