Power grab thread.

This is the term used by the SNP to describe the natural transfer of powers from the EU to Westminster, following the “Leave” vote.

For some bizarre reason, the SNP are really angry that this process is taking place, even though the U.K. voted for it.
The SNP appear perfectly happy with the EU having control of powers, yet throw a tantrum at the thought of these being transferred to Westminster.

For definition, power grab means to seize, snatch or capture.
The powers being transferred to the U.K. Government from the EU never belonged to the Scottish Parliament.

Therefore, no seizing, snatching or grabbing has taken place.

This is just faux outrage.
The part I find absolutely bonkers, is that the SNP wants “independence”, but they also want to part of a union- the European Union.

They don’t want to part of the United Kingdom, despite the economic and social benefits to Scotland.
If the SNP wanted true independence, they wouldn’t want to be part of any union.

Therefore, their ideology is fundamentally flawed.

I could also go into the stipulations which could be attached if Scotland rejoins the EU independently, but can save that for another time.
Anyways, back to the power grab.

Michael Gove has already outlined that Scotland will receive more powers, as a result of the Brexit vote. If anything, the Scottish Government will build on its reputation as being one of the most devolved governments in the world.
Brexit can be a win for Scotland and a win for the Scottish Government.

However, it suits the SNP to argue anything positive about Brexit, so spin and narrative is applied.

- as a side note, the SNP forgets that nearly 1/3 of its members voted to leave.
Anyways, following Douglas Ross and his excellent contribution today, the SNP were left humiliated as they could not name one power the U.K. Government has snatched from the Scottish Government.

They were caught completely off guard and are now on the back foot.
We need to keep highlighting issues like this because when it comes to the SNP, the best part of believe is the lie.
