That income which I earn honestly, from a fee schedule crafted over decades by prior @GoAHealth (incl. conservative) with @Albertadoctors, and has led to greater fee equity, and formerly attractive practice incentives which led to creation of enviable patient medical homes.

That income which is earned:
-providing care to my patients of Alberta; in my clinic or on the phone, in the hospital or in the emergency department.
-spending 60-80hrs per week (on avg.) providing direct patient care and completing the associated paperwork my practice creates.

That income which is earned:
-on-call (eves, weekends) at least 40 days/year in addition to my daytime work (shout out to my dear colleagues who are on call >180 d/yr with their specialized and rare skillsets)
-only after having completed 10(+) yrs post-secondary education.

That gross income from which:
-30% (avg) is deducted for overhead, which includes paying my staff, rent and equipment.
-I create jobs in my community
-I support my community and invest in it, and so do my colleagues and our employees

That gross income from which:
-I save for my retirement (no pension!)
-I pay for my maternity leaves, sick leave, and holiday time.
-I pay for my extended health benefits and disability insurance.

That income which is no longer representative as you have already implemented significant changes April 1, and further planned in 2021. What will the Sunshine look like in 2021?

Go ahead, shine that light. 

AND YET, my dispute with  @GoAHealth and @shandro in particular is no longer primarily about income and the ill-conceived cuts you unilaterally implemented and of which you have since needed to rescind many due to unintended consequences.

No, my beef (we are in Alberta) with you @shandro is the blatant disrespect and vilification you continue to perpetrate on an entire profession and community of individuals working for our patients day and night.

I want to focus on medicine. I want to be a partner in the health system and an advocate for my patients, not a budget line. I want to use my energy and knowledge to help my patients, not to defend my profession and our system.

But sure, go ahead and let the Sunshine List glow. But then, @shandro, get to arbitrating or resign.  End.
