I understand that the fight against the -isms is a fight against the stripping of humanity from marginalized peoples. any talking points that strip humanity from marginalized people is inhumane.

and I understand the hypocrisy in Nick Cannon's punishment.. but he was still wrong.
you can't say any group of people is inhumane because they lack the genetic capability of being empathetic. full stop.
it's one thing to say certain demographics are socialized not to be compassionate. it's something else completely different to say they cannot do it because they lack the genetic material that would allow them to be caring.
I see why folks are upset about his punishment. I really do. it's super hypocritical for 2 different reasons:

a) anti-Black rhetoric is (seemingly almost) never punished with this swiftness or severity.
b) Black celebrities are saying similar and not being penalized.
DeSean Jackson and Stephen Jackson are on record making anti-Semitic statements and I doubt highly they'll be punished for that at all.

Fox News anchors say racist things off the clock and still have jobs.

and yes, they are all equally wrong.
but folks have to decide if they're mad the statements are being made, or if they're mad the statements are/aren't being punished. because those are 2 different issues.
if wrong is wrong, we have to call them out, no matter the source of the comments.

otherwise, were not collectively fighting against -isms (or -phobias); we're just simply fighting for the equal right the exercise inhumanity towards people we deem as less than human.
and that's bad. simply put.
