At committee meeting, Miami-Dade Depty Jennifer Moon today explained county’s take on differences in state and county test results. Dade dashboard reports tests based on the day data is released. @HealthyFla backdates results daily to day test was taken.
Moon said the county calculates its daily percentage rate by using the state Emerg Management Dept’s cumulative test total for Miami-Dade, subtracting it from the prior day, and then doing the math for the positive rate from there.
Florida Health Dept’s published % positive rate fluctuates on prior days as it adjusts data. Miami-Dade uses 14-day avg for its dashboard, and Moon said county doesn’t want prior numbers to change in calculating that. So uses the cumulative number instead.
Would that change if there’s pressure to use the Health Dept #, which is generally lower bc of how it counts retests as @conarck has pointed out? (And @AndySlater posted earlier today too). Stay tuned
