Doing research for a Cavs offseason preview & re-watching games and something stands out: Collin Sexton got a lot better offensively. He's always had crazy confidence, but the game is starting to match it. Here's a quick thread with what I've learned about the second-year guard.
Per NBA Stats, Sexton had 902 drives last season, which was 11th in the NBA. He's making stuff happen off the bounce. He drew 116 FTAs, which was 20th in the NBA behind guys who are almost all All-Stars.

He shot 47.6% on drives, which puts him in company with the best guards.
Sexton also improved as a shooter. He went from a "meh" 43% as a rookie to a pretty good 47% this season. He did most of this by improving his finishing at the rim, floater range, short mid-range and on long twos. The best part? The long twos are down from 20% of his FGAs to 6%.
Because of the presence of Darius Garland, Sexton did less off the dribble as a 3-point shooter in his second year. He essentially converted those pull-up attempts into catch & shoot attempts. As are most players, Sexton is a lot better on C&S attempts than pull-ups. Good stuff!
The defense is still pretty bad. Sexton is very competitive, but has some bad habits. He loves to press up on ballhandlers with way too much space around him. That's not a skill he has. He did improve his fouling. Some of that is year 1 to year 2 stuff, but he's smarter now.
Overall, Sexton's improvement is really encouraging. Garland's growth from the start of his rookie year to the end of it was good to see too. They aren't Dame/CJ, but if you squint (not even all that hard!) you can kind of see it. Sexton is on his way, now Garland has to follow.
