Monetization 101: Just in case you've been wondering how you can monetize your social media accounts, YouTube channel or website I'd like to share with you my two cents. A thread.
According to me. Monetization is the ability to generate revenue from your content, collaborations or selling ad space on your platforms. In today's world it can be done in various ways but on this thread I'll only focus on social media, YouTube & websites or blogs.
On social media one of the most popular ways is by becoming an influencer or content creator. If you'd like to be one but don't have any knowledge about it you might want to check out my Influencer 101 thread below. https://twitter.com/IamIceEazy/status/1280473674118844416?s=19
As an influencer or content creator you get to earn from creating content & posting it to your social media platforms or creating it for another brand.
As an influencer you can earn from just retweeting a tweet to doing sponsored post, branded content, product reviews & more. It's basically about selling your influence. The bigger your influence, the higher your revenue.
Multiple social media platforms are starting to introduce monetization through ad placements & sharing the revenue with the content creators. So far, I only know of Facebook pages, Twitter & IGTV all through in-stream ads on your videos. Please check your eligibility.
It's important to regularly check for any new monetization updates as these social media are constantly introducing new ways for content creators to earn revenue on their platforms.
Other ways of generating revenue from your social media platforms could be through direct sales, affiliate marketing, hosting webinars, doing online courses & more.
Moving on to YouTube monetization, first of all you should have channel. On YouTube you get to monetize in various ways with the most popular being ads placements on your videos through Google Adsense.
Currently you can do that by joining the YouTube Partner Program. In order to be eligible you must have at least 1000 subscribers & a minimum of 4000 watch hours of your videos in the past 12 months.
Once you've joined the YouTube Partner Program you can also earn revenue through memberships where your viewers become members of your channel by paying monthly recurring payments & you can have different tiers with different benefits.
Through the YouTube Partner Program you can earning from super chats & super stickers which show colored chat messages in your chat feed during live streams & premieres.
When a viewer makes a purchase, their profile picture can stay on top of the chat feed. For how long it stays depends on their purchase amount. The more a viewer spends, the longer Super Chats or Super Stickers can stay at the top of the chat feed.
Other ways of monetizing your YouTube channel include brand collaborations, product reviews, affiliate marketing, direct sales & more.
Lastly, website monetization. This is the process of converting existing traffic being sent to a particular website into revenue. The most popular ways of monetizing a website are by implementing pay per click & cost per impression advertising.
Just like YouTube, you monetize you can monetize your website or blog through ad placements & the revenue payments are done the same way through Google Adsense.
Other ways of monetizing your website or blog include direct sales, affiliate marketing, paid membership, sponsored posts, product reviews & more.
In conclusion, monetization is always about eligibility which means you have to check all platforms on their monetization requirements as well as regularly do research on new monetization ways that are constantly being introduced otherwise you'll wake up late.
There are a lot of people who earn a well financed living through monetization of the above platforms. The great part is that there's no limit as to how much you can make, it's all up to your brand, moving with times & your content.
I know I might have left out a lot of information around this monetization topic as I was trying to sum up everything, if you may have any questions don't hesitate to ask I'll answer in full detail. Otherwise, let's not miss an cent. Cheers.
