Would you trust a company based out of a beach shack on Kangaroo Island to deliver security services?
Well, if you’re @PeterDutton_MP... you would *and* pay them half a billion taxpayers’ dollars
Paladin- another reason @ScottMorrisonMP is going to #DumpDutton.

You’ve probably heard a lot about Paladin... but that wouldn’t have been the case if it weren’t for journalists at the @FinancialReview.
They realised something wasn’t quite right because the company was being paid $20 million-a-month... https://www.afr.com/policy/foreign-affairs/cashing-in-on-refugees-duo-make-20-million-a-month-at-manus-island-20190210-h1b2e5

. @FinancialReview’s @lmurray75 explains how the contract came to be here
https://www.abc.net.au/radio/programs/the-signal/the-company-in-the-beach-shack/10823296

Paladin were contracted by Dutton’s Department to look after garrison (or security) services in PNG.
Remember how I told you about @PeterDutton_MP’s failure to resettle refugees in third countries meant indefinite detention for them?
It‘s also meant huge cost for the taxpayer.

The scandal only grows from there.
The contract was awarded *without* a tender process and whilst the @PeterDutton_MP and the Government were handing over tens of millions of dollars to Paladin, the company was hit with thousands of contract breaches. https://www.afr.com/policy/foreign-affairs/paladin-fined-more-than-3700-times-in-a-year-20190917-p52s4q

. @theage & @smh even reported a senior PNG official asked Paladin for a political donation of about $8 million in 2017.
Documents show Paladin raised concerns about the “donation” with Home Affairs officials from Nov 2017 until April 2019. https://www.smh.com.au/politics/federal/png-officials-making-brazen-demands-for-kickbacks-from-manus-operator-20191021-p532m0.html

By the end of the contract, @PeterDutton_MP and his Department paid Paladin a total of $532 million for a contract that lasted 801 days.
That’s $664,169 per day...
Of taxpayers’ money

Given the brazen waste of taxpayers’ money, the Auditor-General stepped in to investigate.
Their report, handed down in late May, stated @PeterDutton_MP’s contract was "a high risk for the Commonwealth.”

As @ScottMorrisonMP says, “if you can't manage money, you can't run the country”.
And if @PeterDutton_MP can’t manage taxpayers’ money... it’s safe to assume @ScottMorrisonMP is going to #DumpDutton from Home Affairs before the end of the year.
