ROLL-UP .... ROLL-UP

We have a little game for you all on this fine Wednesday ☺️

We’re calling it ‘Museum or Not’

Some of the photos are of Museum objects others are items from the curatorial teams homes.

Like / comment beneath those you believe are part of our collection
We start this game with a nice simple one

Card and Fuse wire

Give it a like if you think it’s a Museum object
Next up:

It’s a letter holder, featuring print of Royal Holloway, University of London on right hand corner.

Date of manufacture unknown.

But is it a part of our collection?
Next up:

This beautiful ornate compact, decorated with two swans on lake.

Give it a like or comment ‘Museum’ if you believe it’s part of our accessioned collection
This one will be a real teaser for you....

A figurine of John Wesley, preacher and theologian in the late eighteenth century. In 1771, Wesley delivered a sermon in Egham and a plaque commemorating the occasion resides @stjohnsegham

But is it part of our collection?
There’s not much we can say about this, other than it’s a fine example of a plastic holder used to hold a sachet or milk

Does this bring back any childhood memories?

As ever, Museum or not?
Two lovely stirrups for you all to feast your eyes on!

We’d say they look to be middle of the 20th century (possibly slightly older)

Do they belong within our museum collection or under the bed of one of our curatorial team?
Next up:

A wonderful example of an early modern candlestick holder.

Unfortunately, it’s not stood the test of time and has seen better days, but we’re in love with the colour ☺️

But is it an object from home or a museum item?
A matchbox fire truck, complete with box.

But is it a collector’s item from home or a treasured possession of the Museum?
Things have taken a morbid turn (apologies)

The remains of a squirrel

Was it found in someone’s garden or ‘unearthed’ whilst rummaging through our collection?
A collection of small pots, exact date unknown - but they look old?

Museum collection or precious heirlooms from home?
And finally,

A ‘genie’ lamp

Is this the ultimate double-bluff where an object looks so out of context with rest of the collection turns out to be part of the collection?

Well, you tell us!

Museum or Not?
So, to repeat.

Give the objects you think are part of our collection a like or comment

Answers to be revealed tomorrow ☺️

We wish you luck with this mission 😂
