Vusi, it's just an attempt by the government to improve spend and buying power. The economy is in a bad place and the central bank is trying to balance things; right now, banks and fintech will soar to sell borrowing to increase spend, I guess you can invest in one; https://twitter.com/VusiThembekwayo/status/1283338484208500736
But if this deflation attempt fails, the government will have no option but to print money, devaluation and a vicious cycle of debt; government investment into financial securities, increase in taxes; which will cause investors to flee to own reliable assets like GOLD or USD
which in turn leads to a further increase in unemployment recession and possibly depression. In times like this, entertainment, transportation, and food are good industries to disrupt with the low-cost models.
NOTE: (I have been playing with #GPT-3 and the following were generated as a continuation to this thread. )

The currency will go through three phases;
1. Liquidity trap.
In this phase, there is a massive increase in liquidity as traditional finance is devalued by new models.
However, the increase in liquidity does not help economic growth as consumers are concerned and do not spend
2. Deflationary currency (including alt-coins)
The economy will not reverse by itself because governments intervene in growth areas to pull demand and printing more money;
however, smart investors will invest in deflationary cryptocurrencies which I think is great because it helps those in need and makes a better world; however, this phase is short-lived because;
3. Hyperinflationary currency
In this phase, new alternative currencies become unstable and cause investors to shun the previous non-deflationary currencies, making the new deflationary coins stabilize. The ones that are most stable win finally; in my opinion;
there is no long term deflationary currency.
Real deflation happens over 100 years, but it is not caused by the government; it is caused by deflationary technologies that people simply want so much, that demand decreases the price.
The 8 deflationary technologies of the Industrial Revolution: Power, Light, Machines
