Nobel Prize Winners from Lahore - A thread:

Very few people know that Lahore produced as many as 4 Nobel prize winners in its history. This is, if we are taking the history back to pre-independence era. Here's a brief synopsis of these 4 Nobel Laureates who called Lahore home:
Subramanyan Chandrasekhar (Nobel Prize in Physics 1983) was born in Lahore in 1910. He went on to do PhD from Cambridge and worked on the concepts of stellar dynamics, general theory of relativity and relativistic astrophysics, the mathematical theory of black holes.
H. Gobind Khorana (Nobel Prize in Physiology / Medicine 1968) did his Masters in Science from Punjab University Lahore and then PhD from University of Liverpool. He later became a Professor of Biology and Chemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Dr. Abdus Salam (Nobel Prize in Physics 1979) studied at Government College Lahore and later became the head of its Mathematics department. He did PhD from Cambridge and was a prolific researcher in theoretical elementary particle physics
Rudyard Kipling (Nobel Prize in Literature 1907) lived in Lahore for many years. He was a literary genius, famous for classics such as Jungle Book and Kim. Lahore's famous Zamzama Gun (Toap) was informally named as Kim's Gun in his honor
