Problems w/ herd immunity:
1. Don't know how long immunity lasts. Antibodies go after <12 weeks. Maybe T-cells?
2. High # of deaths (0.5-1.5% CFR)
3. High morbidity in young & previously healthy ('longhaulers', est.10%)
4. Those in shielded/elderly groups hiding for months. (1/2)
5. People will change their consumption behaviour to avoid virus. Companies continue 'work at home' policies. Economy struggles.
6. Hard to get schools & childcare running given concerns of teachers/parents/grandparents.
7. Put into 'red' category by other countries. (2/2)
Haven't written on herd immunity for months- but if it's useful I can write up a short piece on it- & why it's indeed a terrible idea given what we know about this virus. Some poor countries have no choice b/c of population size & lack of resources. Rich countries have no excuse.
