NEW: Captain Tom Moore will receive his knighthood in person from the Queen at Windsor Castle on Friday.
Buckingham Palace says: “The Queen will confer the Honour of Knighthood on Captain Sir Thomas Moore at an Investiture at Windsor Castle.
Captain Sir Thomas Moore will be accompanied by members of his family.”
The Queen will use the sword that belonged to her father, King George VI to award #CaptainTom with the insignia of Knight Bachelor.
The ceremony will take place inside Windsor Castle - so there will be no viewing positions for the public.
All royal investitures that had been scheduled for June and July were cancelled because of coronavirus. But on Friday, the Queen is making a personal exception for #CaptainTom. And who would argue with that!
No word from the Palace about whether there will be a perspex screen between the Queen and Captain Tom for the ceremony! 🗡
