I know a lot of people wanting to break into the industry will find that Binge comp tempting. Get some skills, learn a trick, be published. It seems worth it when we are all so desperate for any leg up.

I can tell you from personal experience in the industry, it's not.
Writing regularly for publications that pay won't even earn you a job. This publication just let go of a lot of writers and is asking you to do it for free.

So they certainly won't hire you. There's no future there.

The real kicker, though, is that others won't hire you either.
In this role you're essentially like a scab, crossing the picket line. It may not get held against you if you don't know any better, but it won't work for you.

You can get experience more valuable at free community sites. It shows passion, growth, commitment etc without scabbery
