Prior to the inception of @NetflixNaija, it takes a lot for a movie lover in diaspora to gain access to great Nigerian movies. One had to kiss many frogs on youtube before finding a prince. There were very few movies, one could watch without glaring production errors,...
predictable storyline or lackluster actors. Subscribing to @Irokotv became a no brainer.
I have seen lots of movies on irokotv but majority that stood out to me were by @BiodunStephenO. I was so intrigued that I had to secretly follow her on IG to see her other body of work.
I needed to know more about the individual who always delivers underrated but relatable movies that connects with the audience. Her movies acknowledge real life struggles & shows various point of view. @BiodunStephenO movies might not have the star power found in some of nigerian
blockbusters but the casting is always on the money. The casting looked so intentionally done, it seemed that the movies were written based on the real life experiences of the chosen actors.
It's no surprise most of her movies rank in the top percentile (>90%) on @irokotv

but are surprisingly absent on @Netflix naija. I would like to review a few of my favorite movies from @BiodunStephenO

Sobi's Mystic: I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! It was an intriguing sultry movie. This movie depicts what happens when two players meet. This movie had everything.. The suspense.. The romance.. The story.. The cast were the perfect fit. From Sobi's side smile to Mystic's smug look, ...
l was sold on their relationship. Everything was kept classy. No overly crass sexual scenes. The transition from Mystic to Aida kept us glued to our seat and wondering how everything would end. This movie was so believable.
Looking for Baami: Lawd!!! This movie was so relatable because many corpers spill their seeds carelessly during service. The cast worked like a charm. Ajinde kept us glued to the screen. She effortless made us transition from laughing at her silliness to showing her some..
empathy when she got rejected. Did Baami really deserve the gem called Ajinde??

Ehi's Bitter: This movie messed with my emotions. It touched my core. A great job was done with the seamless transition between the past and the present to....
Show why Ehi was bitter. The quality of the video was touch notch. Casting was also intentional. Every little detail was at the right place. I was so impressed that the producer chose to be authentic with the ending. I'm happy, i didn't have to get bitter at the ending.

Faith based movies: Glimpse and Joba. Glimpse explores the possibility of having a tiny glimpse into the future. If we had the power to see into the future, would we change our life choices? Though this was a Christian movie, it was inclusive enough for a Muslim like myself.
The life lessons were crystal clear and applicable to all..

I am yet to see joba. I heard amazing things about it but I can't find it on any reputable website. I hope it becomes available on @NetflixNaija soon.

@BiodunStephenO has other amazing movies but I don't...
want this thread to be overwhelming.
Her body of work is huge.. Her story telling ability tends to pull you in and you never want to leave until it’s over. Her stories present an insightful reflection of the mundane, the deep, ..
the everyday, the old, the intricate life of the Nigerian society that is relatable and very refreshing. The world needs to see her style of wholesome storytelling on a platform as awesome @NetflixNaija, which i subscribe to.

Which of @BiodunStephenO's movie do you love & why?
