"The ideal way to know how many people in a community have had coronavirus infections...is to collect blood samples from people in every age group, looking for antibodies against the coronavirus, which show that someone has previously been infected.....
"“We know this is just the tip of the iceberg...The question is how much of the iceberg is submerged....if you’re not in a place where you’re not proactively looking for people and testing, then the majority of infections will go undetected...stealth transmission,”
and this gem
Now the study
here it is https://www.nber.org/papers/w27408.pdf
"NBER working papers are circulated for discussion and comment purposes. They have not been
peer-reviewed or been subject to the review by the NBER Board of Directors that accompanies
official NBER publications"
the studies authors have no history of academic peer reviewed papers on the subject, no virologists or in infectiology

Safford gives a bit of his bio and interests:

predoctoral research associate...before applying for PhD programs in Sociology and Demography. I am interested in economic and social demography, gender and sexuality, social policy, and social movements - primarily LGBTQ-related.
Joseph J. Sabia:

His research interests are in the economics of risky behaviors, the economics of national defense, and minimum wage policy.
He is as much of a virologist as I am

another on of 'em not a virologists, not a doctor with relevant experience, no background in infectiology. But here we are https://clas.ucdenver.edu/economics/andrew-friedson
Im sure these are all great people and very good at what they do, but virologist and/or infectiologist ain't it, nor is peer review

A working paper can say anything it wants
Like the Neil Ferguson from Imperial College paper that began this mess...
Covid-19: the study from Imperial College that drove urgent UK/US government policy was not peer reviewed; unlikely it was externally reviewed at all.
The computer code used to produce the estimates were, by Ferguson’s own admission, old, unverified and documented inadequately
And this, a sci-fi writer and an adult actress on the payroll completely faked results on a coronavirus study ang got it published in the very prestigious The Lancet = everyone believed it, causing changes to treatments around the world https://bit.ly/3h2YJV0
I wish i could dig thru the "study" itself but it is a "working paper" which could and will be different whenever they chose to make it so.
They aren't peer reviwed and never will be.

Because they're not meant to be.
