2020 is super hard, no question. And no end in sight. We are getting through it any way we can—this week and who knows what will get us thru next week. I’m not saying “take advantage” b/c I mean please. But here’s a short thread on some good things that have happened at my house.
I’ve been in a marathon group text with 3 other female #appellatetwitter lawyers: @Jaime_ASantos, @KelsiCorkran, & @LinzCHarrison. All amazing lawyers, all moms, all hanging in there.
And these women have lifted me up when I’m feeling exhausted, feeling frustrated about being a woman in this field, feeling in need of a laugh.

Women, find a community of women in your field who can be there for you. It helps so much.
(Also, one of our agreed-upon pandemic pleasures is ordering food from @OfficinaDC. It’s good to have things to look forward to.)
At home, it’s obviously hard to juggle working and parenting with no childcare. Like, super hard. But spending every day with my 5yo has deepened my understanding of just how funny, smart, loving, and tough she is.
She’s having a great time.
And she and daddy have gotten closer in a way that fills and melts my heart.
Also, I’ve become crafty! Bought a sewing machine, now reflexively save toilet paper roll cardboard things “just in case,” learned a lot about dinosaurs and fairies. We have played with ALL the toys, even those long forgotten.
And we have learned to love and enjoy every inch of our house. I mean, we look forward to our eventual release — but we are happy to be here, together, while we need to be.
Oh and I’m like a skort evangelist now. Never going back.
So no doubt about it, this is hard and I applaud every single one of you for enduring. If it helps you to think for a minute about the bright spots, give it a try. Then get through another day. Stay safe, everyone.
PS major shout-out to @Mcfarlanddc, who is the perfect partner for me, is an A+ dad, and is holding us all together.
