I'm sure whatever they are coming up with now will be at least be better than the big ACCD marketing effort of 1981, just as the region was facing the economic abyss. Centered around ads like this placed in major national publications. These guys were going to save us:
Same marketing campaign actually had another advertisement that seriously argued business executives who relocated from elsewhere have unique opportunities in Pittsburgh to purchase large homes in rural suburbs where they can become “gentleman farmers.” I'm not making this up
and we won't go into Border Guard Bob yet again which was itself a version of a regional branding campaign.. conceived entirely by marketing folks...
