The news surrounding British Gymnastics is particularly poignant for my sister and I who were both gymnasts throughout our childhood and teenage years. It is so sad to see a sport you love like this. I stand with the gymnasts and condemn those who enabled abuse 1/4
I was never abused. I went to a club where the coaches were harsh but fair. I do remember a lot of children crying during training but that was just seen as "part of the sport". Other clubs had rumours about their stricter reputations and training through injury was heard of 2/4
British Gymnastics should be ashamed of the abuse culture that they have allowed to happen. The organisation needs listens to the athletes and make meaningful change 3/4
I want to end this thread by sharing a photo of what the sport should be like. Here is one of my best friends and I having some fun after a day of training. It is devastating that many gymnasts could not smile at the end of their day, the culture must change #GymnastAlliance 4/4
