“Woke mob” is just lazy shorthand for not being able to articulate with intelligence what you’re actually arguing against and speaks to a nostalgia for when the narrative was controlled by a homogenous elite who held a monopoly on prestige news institutions.
Who faces more online harassment and bullying than journalists/writers of color, particularly women, who remain vastly under-represented in these institutions, and yet I’m struggling to find where these people bemoaning this moment have spoke up for JOC.
Imagine thinking that any of these elite institutions are “woke” and that black, Latino and Indigenous journalists think these centrist to conservatives-leaning institutions and their coverage are “woke,” “progressive” or any of your other euphemisms.
