Something I've been thinking about and trying to figure out how best to say it, so it may not be perfectly written but some thoughts to consider over the next several weeks and months...

As an Athletic Trainer, our goal is to get an athlete back on the field as quickly as possible SAFELY. This COVID-19 pandemic is another example of not only this mindset but it shows how complicated so many things are today. Both within athletics & in the society in general. 2/
There is so much information out there via social media, the internet, local and national news. Some of it is good information, some of it is junk. You've got conspiracy theories, you've got science, politics, economics, and so much more. If you have an opinion about anything 3/
you can find information to support it-- I promise! But the hard part is for those administrators, those school nurses, ATs, and so many others in decision-making roles who are now tasked with re-opening schools, re-opening university campuses, and re-starting athletics! 4/
Please understand that one of the many tasks we have to do is filter through all of the information that is coming out and try to make an educated decision on the best route and the safest route. 5/
As somebody who is involved in this process, please know that this is no easy task but we are doing the best we can! Over the next several weeks and months, please understand that there are going to be decisions made that you may not agree with 6/
(and you'll surely "have the data" to support your opinion) but there are many people behind the scenes who are doing the best we can and most people in these roles truly do have the best interests of everybody in mind. 7/
We will get through this. We will move on and there will be bumps in the road! But spewing hatred won't make the process any easier for anybody... 8/8
