ABOUT MY STORY: A THREAD
Tales Of Jakam is a Fantasy/Adventure story I started working on 2/3 years ago, but picked up seriously only in the past year, expanding the world and starting to make up a plot.
A lot of its traits are inspired by the Percy Jackson books by Rick Riordan, but it, of course, features some personal creations, as it is a completely made up world, not situated on our earth (however it is really similar)
As you might have guessed, the location where everything takes place is Jakam: a vast kingdom divided in 5 regions (north, west, east, south, central), and with a big religious pantheon inspired by the Greek one (I& #39;m a greek mythology nerd)
I wanted to make the characters in the story quite diverse, and thus it includes: lgbtq+ people, poc people, deaf people, and I will probably add more in the future!
The main character in this story is Alcander, the first and only son of the God of Death, Istur. Alcander doesn& #39;t know much about his father, and most of his knowledge about him come from the people around him.
He starts experiencing vision, dreams, and manifestations from Istur, all containing a message he can& #39;t quite make out, and leave him very confused. He hears about Nareya, the fortune teller of the Central Region, and her ability to talk with the Gods, and thus begins a journey-
-to meet her. During this journey he goes through quite a lot of things, such as discovering that he is a Demigod, meeting his soon-best-friend Luka, also a Demigod,Son of the Deity of art Banar, that helps him through his emotions and journey.
When they arrive to Nareya, she agrees to read the messages Alcander is being sent, and to read what awaits him in the future. Upon the "revelation", both parties are shaken, and Alcander refuses to be what his father wants him to be: the destroyer of Jakam.
However Alcander& #39;s powers aren& #39;t ehat they were supposed to be due to how he was born: from a relationship of true love between the God and Alcander& #39;s mother, Aerea, instead of being able to bring death and destruction by creating entities called "Alters", he instead-
-can "cure" those who already have turned into these hostile entities, elevating them to their "Ego" state (yes, this is a play on the latin words "Alter" and "Ego", I& #39;m also a language nerd): a better version of themselves after they went through their "Alter" state
And with that, Alcander and Luka begin yet another journey through Jakam, actively looking for Alters, especially the most dangerous ones, to help them out. During this journey Alcander starts to know the truth of who his father really is,-
-and how all the stories protraying him as evil, mercy less destroyer originated from some sort of cult in the West Region, that who knows for what reason, started spreading this information. I won& #39;t tell much more from now on, I think I& #39;ve said enough :)
