Something I don’t think new K-pop fans understand: CA has run rampant through the industry since its inception. People love to cry “You gen 1 & 2 stans never called out your idols back then, why are you attacking MY baby now?! 😫” to which I would tell you the following: (cont)
“Back then”, aka LITERALLY anything more than like, 3 yrs ago, it was nearly impossible to say anything abt CA to a company & be heard bc 1) intl fan bases were still comparatively tiny & powerless & 2) the ignorant revolt you see at our call-outs now? Amplify that by 100. (cont)
To even BREATHE a word of dissent would get you hushed and dismisses or canceled in whatever tiny corner of K-pop Internet that you resided. Domestic fans literally WOULD. NOT. HEAR. IT. Hell, they still don’t want to. But now, intl fans are beginning to have more power. (cont)
Trust, I HATED seeing dreads on Z*co, T*eyang, D*won, E*nhyuk... cornrows on J*yong & legit 8 billion others... The gigantic warbonnet that the Unmentionable wore in the “Bang Bang Bang” MV? The nonsense that WAS the theatrical portion of the “Mamacita” MV? Hated that too. (cont)

So no. We’re not ignorant to the fact that this has been happening for over a decade. We didn’t like it or excuse it back then either. We just had absolutely ZERO power to affect any change until very, very recently. What’s happening now, with these apologies and... (cont)
...acknowledgements and video reshoots? Quite literally unheard of. And the call-outs and educating and emailing of agencies and uproar is the ONLY thing that will keep that going. Of course agencies say they care about “feelings” but what they really care about is our $$$ (cont)
The entire world has a VERY long way to go before everyone is on the same page when it comes to racism, racial equity, & social awareness. But just remember that YOUR voice and YOUR coin matter, and we CAN make a difference, no matter how insignificant it might seem. (cont)
Keep going. Keep calling things out. Keep writing your emails and raising hell. Sometimes you have to grab people by the shoulders and shake them before they truly *get it*, and this is no different. Expect and demand better from the people you admire. You will be better for it.
