Crowley died in the town I grew up in. He cursed it even; Hastings.

Silly old sausage.

The #occult is to #egodevelopment as ego development is to the occult. https://twitter.com/ajbkr/status/1283134907972288512
I have read The Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage, & as is suggested in this video, it can be considered a form of #yoga.

Took me some 15 months to stabilise fully after undertaking the Abramelin ritual.

It was both the most gruelling and yet fulfilling experience of my life.
Crowley's a bit of a pottymouth from time to time, but then aren't we all (shadow work)?

Mostly, his seemingly bad behaviour is, in effect, an attempt to overcome social taboos; to encourage others to move beyond the socialised mind.
In Crowley's encounter with Choronzon he is engaging in dissolution of the self, a fun activity if dying before dying sounds like fun.
Sexual magick and encounters with the same sex (again, breaking taboos) could be considered a physical representation of a more wholesome acceptance of what can be termed "realisation of the androgyne"; a blending of opposites.
Evoking and binding the spirits (or demons) of the goetia is a form of shadow work, yet again.

Sorry to disappoint, but there is no mystery here.
In Crowley contacting that which he believed was his guardian angel, he was instead in contact with his higher self. This is misattribution.
Ego inflation ensues. It's very common and I myself have succumbed to it. Dirty, dirty.
This is the realm of the Messiah complex.
I'm slowly making my way through the video at the beginning of this thread.

Now Terence McKenna has popped up.

Note to those paying attention: if DMT was involved in my mystical experience, it was entirely natural.
