The Savior in Phoenix : How Good is Devin Booker?

Devin Booker is one of the best offensive talents in the NBA Today. He’s improved his game over the last couple seasons and has blossomed to a legitimate all star caliber player. Though he hasn’t made one yet he should soon and make multiple throughout his career.

Although Booker has been known for his outside shooting, he takes a majority of his shots from the mid range. He’s a very crafty player who knows how to create space well and can still hit tough shots if there is none.

He’s very patient when creating his shot, which is something a lot of younger players struggle with early in their careers. He’s not the most athletic player, but his patience rewards him when creating his own shot

He has one of the best pure shooting forms in the league. He also gets great arc on his shots which allows him to hit tough shots

His pull up jumper from mid range is one of the best in the league today. His ability to shift gears, and decelerate sharply allows him to hit these pull ups and step backs so efficiently

He’s improved the most is his playmaking abilities and ability to run the Pick and Roll makes him harder to guard. As not only is he a threat to immediately score off the screen, but he can now pass out of it and make the correct reads to make the P&R effective.

Being a good playmaker means making the right read, doesn’t mean making fancy passes/plays. He’s improved making the right reads and you’d be surprised by the amount of players than can’t do that

Fantastic back door pass to Bridges for the dunk, Book has just gotten a better feel for the game overall with his experience and it should continue to improve more as the years go on.

By no means is he an elite playmaker , however for a volume scorer as he is, his playmaking is a huge improvement many other players aren’t able to make. Which will make him more valuable as the team around him improves

What separates Book as well from other volume scorers is that he has the ability to play off the ball which adds to his value. They’ve ran sets for him when Rubio is healthy, but most of the time PHX needs to rely on book to create offense so he doesn’t get too play off ball much

Book needs to improve defensively, he doesn’t have to be a fantastic defender as he adds a lot of value offensively but he has to be passable. He can improve as the personnel improves as well around him and with experience.

Overall, Booker is one of the premier young talents in the NBA Today. A threat to shoot, score or pass if needed, he is a great player in Phoenix who should have a long career. Hopefully they can add some more pieces around him and stay healthy soon and build around him and Ayton
