sum up of Marz's IG live:

- all of the songs his team made can still he performed like normal, they just cannot be used only in special occasions like DVDs
- SM offered only 1000$ to buy the rights while they made millions of $ out of the same songs.
- his team tried fo find a better deal for them but SM rejected.
- he never got fired bc he was NEVER under SM in the first place he had partnership with EKKO, his contract ended and he just decided to not re-new bc he and his team were getting underplayed.
- there is no problem with Chinese songs bc there was a fair negotiation! (He mentioned namanana)
- he didn't //copyright// his songs, the moment his team wrote the songs, the songs already belong to them.
- there's absolutely no plagiarism issue, stop spreading misinformation
- the one who is offering the fee is SM. EKKO is a publishing company that "represented" him and his team and were are supposed to negotiate a higher price for them but since it's EKKO is also owned by LSM they tried to get the lowest price possible instead.
- he said he doesn’t want his writers to be underpaid bc they put their soul into their music and it’s unfair for them. Just 1000$ dollars that they had to split between all the people that worked on the song, while the company made millions of $ out of the same song
- he also mentioned that one of the reasons why he was unhappy with SM is bc they wanted a specific direction for their music & he got tired of it. He mentioned EXO was the only group that allowed him to experiment a lot and he was really grateful for that.
- in conclusion, his team was underpaid, they still tried to offer a better negotiation, SM rejected. They just wanted to pay 1000$ to keep all these songs forever, which is totally unfair to all the people who put their soul and hard work into these songs.
- again, all SM artists can still perform the songs, so don’t worry about that, the songs will still be available on all platforms, they just won’t be allowed to use them on certain occasions like dvds (unless there’s fair negotiations before use /Not sure about this part)
I hope this clears up all the misunderstandings regarding the situation, I’m sorry for the messy thread, I probably made many typos but I was trying to keep notes while watching the live >< if anyone else watched the live and would like to add anything/correct me, let me know!
here’s also a screen-recording that pretty much sums up the things I mentioned in this thread
