Today @ultabeauty announced Conscious Beauty at Ulta Beauty, a new program that will highlight products in Ulta stores free of chemicals on its Made Without List, including parabens, phthalates, and ingredients from more than 25 chemical categories: https://bwnews.pr/2CdS4IH  #Ulta
We welcome today's #UltaBeauty news!

This will help make it easier for consumers to identify products without certain toxic chemicals such as phthalates.
However, the company has apparently not disclosed the list of chemicals on this list.

Transparency is essential, and we urge @ultabeauty to be more transparent about the chemicals in this program. Their customers have a right to know! #CleanBeauty
@ultabeauty should also take the next steps by making a public commitment to phase out toxic chemicals in beauty products and ensure substitutes are actually safe.

Its competitor @Sephora set a goal to reduce its chemical footprint by a whopping 50% over a 3-year period.
The company has also committed to improve the sustainability of packaging, committing to: “ensure 50 percent of all packaging sold, including the Ulta Beauty Collection, will be made from recycled or bio-sourced materials, or will be recyclable or refillable by 2025.”
As part of that effort, Ulta should also ensure suppliers’ packaging doesn’t contain toxic chemicals (such as phthalates) or fundamentally hazardous plastics (such as PVC and polystyrene).

A #circulareconomy must also be clean.
Either way, this is another step forward.

We look forward to continued progress from Ulta Beauty in the year ahead, especially with our fifth annual Who’s Minding the Store? retailer report card coming out this November.
