Want to learn more about the intersections of COVID19, extreme heat & environmental justice? I'm going to livetweet this hearing feat. @HeatherMcTeer, @EJinAction, @CecilCorbinMark, @HiltonKelley.

Or check out the livestream yourself, which starts now: https://bit.ly/2CxoI7R
. @HeatherMcTeer: Still need more research on interconnected threats of COVID19, heat & racism, but energy poverty among communities of color certainly adds to heat vulnerability. Who can afford to put more than half of their paycheck toward A/C during a pandemic?
. @EJinAction: Everyone's focused on getting kids back to school in the fall. But how can we do that without addressing crumbling infrastructure in Black and brown communities? Need to ensure they have clean water, A/C, proper ventilation to stay safe from heat and COVID19.
. @CecilCorbinMark: A/C isn't just a luxury item; it's a matter of life and death as climate gets hotter. But beyond just helping communities of color with A/C, need to tackle the structural racism underpinning inequitable heat vulnerabilities.
. @HiltonKelley: Ppl of color have historically been forced to live in heavily industrialized & low-lying areas. THAT'S why we're plagued with pre-existing conditions & are more susceptible to COVID19. Heat expected this summer will make things worse & here come the hurricanes...
. @EJinAction: Need to ensure that federal science agencies have the FUNDING and the MANDATE to do necessary research on cumulative impacts of heat, air pollution, COVID19, etc. on vulnerable communities.
Major theme running through this hearing: EPA is hurting, not helping, vulnerable communities by rolling back pollution safeguards ... in the middle of a pandemic. They need to return to their mission of protecting human health!
<Which is prompting "disappointment" from some committee members ... 🙄>
Welp, the audio has disappeared on the hearing feed, so thus ends this thread.
