How many times do i have to repeat but henna is NOT a CA in latata. Yes, henna is used in wedding occassion and stuff but it never relates to any religious meaning. Its just......flower patterns drawings. We never draw religious words on it (its even forbidden to do that)
Henna is like temporary tattoos. Trust me. You asked any malaysian right here their thoughts on them using hennas in their mv, they would be proud bcs it was included in the mv. I believe they would never thought them as "appropriation" as they dont even use henna in wrong way
Please lah. If you never wear henna and dont even know abt henna, just stop being the spokeperson if its offensive or not. And no. Dont pull the "iM aRaBic aNd tHis iS ofFeNsiVe" im here just to tell you that henna is used in MANY cultures in south asia.
Sedar diri sikit bukan orang arab je pakai. Malay, indian, thai, even chinese in my country wear them and we all are fine with it. We know what is appropriation and which one is appreciation and most importantly, idle NEVER appropriate henna. Case closed
I hope that this thread will go viral bcs im so sooo soo tired seeing ppl keep saying that idle using henna is CA and when we asked "why" they will say "bcs its belong to other culture that are not theirs" when a whole NICHA YONTARARAK is THERE.
Here is the list of actual cultural uses for henna. None of them are saying that it is for "religious" uses. Its for beauty/jewelry/cosmetics and another replacement for tattoo.
EVERYONE can use henna, as long as you didnt wear it the wrong way like erasing the actual floral arts, drawing unnecessary/disrespectful patterns and so on. That is "APPROPRIATION" while what idle did is "APPRECIATION". Thats the FACTS.
Btw, idk if anyone will try to counterback me with this threads but a disclaimer ; im an art students and i do learn abt other cultures and their arts and i can speak on hennas bcs they are apart of my culture as well.
Plus, i've watched latata mv before i became a nevies myself. And it never come to my mind that them wearing henna is disrespectful. I just think that it is normal to wear them as a part of jewelry until i see how stan twt saying tht them using henna is appropriation like..what??
What make it funny is that some of yall dont even know what henna is....but claimed them as cultural appropriation lol
