I was disgusted to read about the harassment and abuse MLA @SPhillipsAB was subjected to by law enforcement in Lethbridge. It should shake us to the core that men in positions of power believe they are entitled to target and harass women who hold a different viewpoint. 2/10

This is not an isolated incident. Abuse of women in politics is rampant! 3/10

Since elected in October I have seen:
- @CathMcKenna targeted with vandalism at her office
-Shannon degraded and called “Kitty Cat” in the Leg–her place of work
- @MarieFrRenaud harassed in that same chamber and ejected for having the audacity to call it out and not apologize 4/10

Misogyny is not partisan. Violence, aggression, and intimidation against women is never acceptable – at home, at work, or in politics. 5/10

I’ve spent my life working for justice and when I decided to run to represent Edmonton Strathcona in Parliament, I did so because I wanted to fight against injustice and to fix the deep inequality that increasingly plagues our communities. 6/10

I wanted to make Canada a better country where people are not left behind.

But I cannot lie. I had serious concerns about putting my name forward as a woman in this province. 7/10

I watched @RachelNotley endure the most abhorrent abuse and violent threats. I knew @LindaDuncanAB was subjected to death threats. And nearly every woman in politics I spoke with had stories of micro-aggressions, silencing, harassment and threats – both veiled and explicit. 8/10

Ultimately it was these stories – these threats - that convinced me to run.

I desperately want my daughter to see herself as a leader in any field she chooses. I fight every day so when it’s her turn to lead, she won’t have to think twice about what she is facing 9/10

Today, tomorrow, and every day we must be brave, we must name, fight, and stop this abuse, and we must work together to make a better Canada for all us. 10/10
