I’ve spent this year trying to prove @realdonaldtrump’s company was telling the truth about an important promise.
So far, no luck.
. @erictrump said last year that — when US govt officials rent rooms — Trump Org charges them “like 50 bucks.”
At the time, we didn’t have many records, to know if that was true.
Now, we have lots of records.
But so far, none show what Eric T said they would.
We’ve now documented at least $970K in charges from @realdonaldtrump’s properties to the US taxpayer. (As illustrated in this elegantly powerful graph I drew). BUT...
BUT the actual rates charged to US taxpayers were always much higher than Trump Org had promised (back when we didn’t have the records).
This promise matters (at least to me) b/c it’s such a direct test of @realdonaldtrump’s promise to put his personal interests aside and work for the public.
When he’s got the chance to give the public’s money to *himself* does he take it? And how much does he take?
I’m still trying to answer this question. I have sued the government to get documents that might prove @erictrump right!
If *you* have documents or direct knowledge, I want to hear from you!
