Some of the same people who’d say it’s irrelevant that Ibram Kendi wrote an op-ed in college raising the possibility that white people “might be aliens” are quick to justify all manner of horrific cruelty towards Bari Weiss right now because of her positions...in college.
It’s hard not to feel there’s an element of misogyny and anti-semitism mixed into the very specific vitriol that greets any mention of her name in certain (definitely not all) precincts.
For the record, I’m very glad that Ibram Kendi isn’t defined by something he wrote in college. That would be insane. People evolve and should be encouraged to do so.

This is a key point, too: a lot of the same people who demand something like total safety, excuse insane online venom “so long as it is directed at the proper targets.”
