The functional core of all Woke, neo-Marxist, and Marxist thinking is self-pity. The awakening of a "critical consciousness" in the masses, which is their primary operational goal, is the attempt to teach people to indulge in their own self-pity and become more susceptible to it.
As @stephenfry has very eloquently noted, the most damaging and horrible human emotion is self-pity. It's a veritable black hole that is extremely hard to pull oneself out of and that consumes nearly all resources poured into it. It cannot be satisfied.
In many respects, much of psychological therapy is dedicated to the project of developing and employing tools that help patients move out of their own self-pitying modes into more healthy, functional, and productive ones. Even there, it's very hard and can take years.
Woke Theory actually teaches people to LOOK FOR reasons to indulge in and amplify their self-pity while decrying alternatives as yet another reason to need to indulge in self-pity. "Woe is me, the world hates me for reasons that have nothing to do with my own sense of worth."
Indulging this mindset only increases the self-pity, so putting resources into Woke endeavors is an endless process because there's no cure in indulgence. You'd literally be better off flushing the resources down the toilet because that doesn't also make the problem worse.
The Woke solutions to self-pity aren't solutions. In fact, they increase the problem. They're anti-therapy being applied in situations where even diligent, informed, professional therapy would struggle to succeed. This is what we're mainstreaming right now. This is dangerous.
