Time to talk about rookie RBs in REDRAFT.

In redraft, let's worry a little less about how efficient each RB will be, and more about who will get the touches in year 1...
Since 2010, 70 RBs have been drafted in Rounds 1-3.

In their rookie season:

- 15/70 RBs had 16+ touches/game
- 41/70 RBS had 10+ touches/game
- 25/70 RBs had fewer than 10 touches/game
- 4/70 RBs missed the majority of their rookie season due to a serious injury.
The 25 rookie RBs with fewer than 10 touches/gm:

12 were stuck behind elite backs

6 were behind established vets

3 were expected to see more work but the RB in front of them surprisingly overperformed

3 were drafted by NE

1 couldn't beat out a struggling Peyton Barber 🤷‍♀️
Behind Elite Starters:

Alexander Mattison (Cook)
Toby Gerhart (AP)
Carlos Hyde & LaMichael James (Gore)
Dexter McCluster & Knile Davis (Charles)
Bernard Pierce(Rice)
Christine Michael (Lynch)
Darrell Henderson (Gurley)
James Conner& Dri Archer (Bell)
Isaiah Pead (S Jackson)
Behind Established Vets:

C.J. Spiller (Fred Jackson)
Ronnie Hillman (McGahee/Moreno)
Montee Ball (Knowshon Moreno)
David Wilson (Ahmad Bradshaw)
D'Onta Foreman (Lamar Miller)
Derrick Henry (DeMarco Murray)
Behind Surprise Starters:

Ronald Jones (Peyton Barber)
Rashaad Penny (Chris Carson)
Kenyan Drake (Jay Ajayi)
Tevin Coleman(Devonta Freeman)
*Devonta Freeman (4th rd pick yr before Coleman, was stuck behind Steven Jackson in rookie season)*
Three of the RBs were drafted by New England:

Stevan Ridley (Green-Ellis/Woodhead)
Shane Vereen (Green-Ellis/Ridley/Woodhead)
Damien Harris(Michel/White)

*maybe they aren't actually good at drafting Rbs/WRs... Just a thought*

But also, Draft Harris in the last round. 🤷‍♀️
The main competition for the rookies that had 16+ touches/game in their rookie yr:

Zeke (Alfred Morris)
Fournette (Chris Ivory)
Martin (LeGarrette Blount)
Bell (Jonathan Dwyer)
Barkley (Wayne Gallman)
Lacy (James Starks)
Richardson (Montario Hardesty)
Hunt (Charcandrick West)
continued...

Jacob (Jalen Richard)
Gurley (Tre Mason - behavioral issues)
Yeldon (Denard Robinson)
Leshoure (Joique Bell)
Montgomery (Mike Davis)
Michel (James White)
Tre Mason (Zac Stacy)
2020 Rookie RBs that do NOT have to compete with an ESTABLISHED vet:

CEH
Akers
Swift
Moss
Vaughn

Rookie RBS that have to compete with an ESTABLISHED vet:

Taylor
Dillon
McFarland
D Dallas

Rookie RBs behind an ELITE vet:

Dobbins
D Evans
Perine (Bell's "name" is still elite)
*Joshua Kelley is in a group of his own - Ekeler is an established vet as a receiving threat, but not on the ground*

---

Looking back at history... In redraft, I will only target the RBs in the 1st group. (But I hope the Colts are smart enough to feed Taylor & prove me wrong!)
