The finance reports will be public by July 20, which is the last time until late October that we get a look at candidates' fundraising power. A lot of important decisions on which swing districts to target come from these reports, so it's important to have a good showing

And no, fundraising is not the only factor in legislative races, but it's one of the few public pieces of data on the candidates we get. There's little press coverage of these races, door knocks/phone calls are usually internal info, social media only does so much.
