Okay just hear me out: Graceling the musical.
Katsa's introduction song being a badass montage of her learning to fight over the years, her gruffiness slowly shifting to reveal her distaste for her Grace. We see her grow. We see Raffin and Oll. Randa overshadows all.
Katsa berates Giddon and Oll for napping after rescuing the Lienid grandfather. Oll and Giddon tease her the whole time in a fun little song that shows their personalities, and aludes to both Giddon's feelings and Katsa's obliviousness.
Katsa throwing her earrings into the water fountain while singing about how she desperately wants to be free, to be herself. It ends soft and sad as she climbs into the fountain, resigned to her lot but still dreaming. Despite all her practicality, she still clings to hope.
Po and Katsa singing a friendship song while they playfully fight. It acts as both echo and constrast to Katsa's introduction song, full of new hope and happiness. The song is cut short by Randa.
Giddon's proposal as first a declaration of love that merges into a duet of Katsa's realization of Po's Grace and her sense of betrayal.
Po pleaing with Katsa to forgive him in a soft and broken song, merging again into a duet of the betrayal melody.
Katsa standing up to Randa could easily be a song but I also feel it would hold more power as dialogue.
Po's confession of love would be a short and sweet song, gentle and full of longing.
Katsa singing in the Sunderian woods about her confused and conflicting feelings over the course or several days, ending in a softly sung plea to fight with Po because she is afraid, echoing their friendship song.
Leck would absolutely have the most dramatic villain song you can imagine. It would be full of word play and contradictions, the music pausing briefly after outright lies to emphasize that Something Is Not Right.
Katsa and Po's farewell song, when she leaves him at the cabin and continues on with Bitterblue. My heart is broken just thinking about it.
Katsa singing Bitterblue to sleep after a nightmare while they're hiking up to Grella's Pass. Bitterblue has her first singing part a little while later, as she cares for the half frozen Katsa after Grella Pass, singing the same song.
Bitterblue getting her first full song on the ship to Lienid as Katsa teachers her to fight. Her confidence grows, her voice going from small and hesitant to loud and strong.
Melody to Katsa and Po's farewell, only it's just Katsa this time as she sees Lienid for the first time and desperately misses Po.
Katsa singing a slightly different version of her first song and her fountain song as she rushes to Po after the defeat of Leck.
Katsa and Po reconcile, echoing Po's plea and Katsa's plea. The song ends with hints of the fountain song.
I CANNOT STOP THINKING ABOUT THIS.
I can write lyrics and feel the movement of the music but I cannot write songs. 2:15am and I am suffering.
I got out of bed at 1am to write this thread because you all had to know about this.
