ok so here's something i realized about the damn apple -

lisa's scene wasn't randomly placed as a flex but a representation of her dark experience with reference to Aladdin: a FAIRY TALE about theft, greed & being trapped (inside the palace & inside the lamp)

@blackpink
the market played a significant part in the fairy tale. it's where the story basically started when jasmine snuck out of the palace & "stole" bread from a vendor to give to hungry kids. in the animated version tho, what she originally gave to the kid was an apple

@blackpink
also, a market is a place where you find all kinds of things and people. the rich, the poor, the good and the bad. yup, the market has apples.

@blackpink
because jasmine was made to stay in the palace for so long, she didn't have the concept of money and thought she could freely give apple/s to the kid/s since they were hungry and ideally as princess, it is her duty to feed them

@blackpink
in this encounter, she met aladdin the orphaned thief who practically lived in the market & stole apples among other things for survival. he told her to trust him & gave her bracelet to the vendor as payment. tho he was quick to switch & really just paid with apples

@blackpink
in one scene, aladdin accidentally dropped a tray full of apples. he panicked while jasmine didn't mind as they have tons and tons of it inside the palace. see the difference on how they value the apples

@blackpink
even in the video game, aladdin collects apples. apart from survival, he uses it to ward off the royal guards chasing him

@blackpink
see how world revolves around apples?

bottomline, the apple is a representation of wealth and the power that comes with it. some earn it rightfully, some just plainly take advantage and steal it. it can be both a tool to bring good and a weapon to bring evil

@blackpink
like the trapped & sheltered jasmine, lisa trusted a thief. they both owned their apples. but the difference was that jasmine's thief was a good one, lisa's was bad. lisa knows she earned her apple. she will not let her bad thief take it away from her anymore

@blackpink
thus, the whole point of her rap. she trusted & was taken advantage of bc she was mistaken as a "plain jane"/jasmine easy to fool. she was robbed of her apple. but it's time for the thief's karma. what goes around comes around. what was taken away, she will take back

@blackpink
going beyond the apple and into the connection of the whole set to #hylt 's concept, note jasmine's character, the genie and the lamp

@blackpink
jasmine is a wise strong woman worthy to be a sultan but her father thought otherwise. he kept and sheltered her too much to believe that she can rule her own kingdom. also, jafar the villain had ill intentions so naturally he supported this

@blackpink
as for genie, he was trapped for 10000 yrs or so inside the lamp. his life is a cycle of granting 3 wishes to his master and coming back inside the lamp unless he is lucky enough to find a master that will wish him to be set free

@blackpink
both had a common darkness: being trapped & wishing to be free

in the end, jasmine was able to prove herself & became sultan. while genie became human & led a free life

lisa sitting as the boss of the market and beside the lamp would suggest that like them, she'd been freed too
this whole scene indicating these suggestions would show how coherent the reference is with the theme of #hylt overcoming being trapped in darkness, going into the light, setting themselves free

@blackpink
bonus: the purpose of placing the donkey was to contrast the horse in the end to show growth and character development

@blackpink
this is just an interpretation. please note that aladdin is a FAIRY TALE. the movie is also an interpretation of that tale too. no scene or set were identical in the movie and mv. generic items such as apples, donkeys and oil lamps cannot be copyrighted unless specially designed
also, this is a supplement to my previous analysis of the #hylt mv and lyrics. i am still convinced everything went according to theme despite this recent realization

lastly, i thank dear marcella for triggering me to look deeper into lisa's scene in #hylt which i wasn't able to do in my previous analysis.

i hope all girls and women forgive you for impliedly accusing them of being gold diggers for choosing to be in a relationship with a man
this one maybe a far stretch but just to convince myself this interpretation may be accurate. lisa mentioned aladdin in the recent chaelisa vlive
