I grew up a secular liberal in a progressive city. I went to Catholic HS where I 1st encountered ‘Social Justice’ explicitly, as opposed to it embedded in all taught perspectives.

I’m recently of the opinion the Church won’t survive this movement as it’s embraced its own demise. https://twitter.com/honoranddaring/status/1282889608964059136
Social Justice was less hardcore and (seemingly) less formalized, or at least disseminated, academically or structurally back then.

It was more about charity and an obligation to helping the less fortunate from your position in life- especially if high, but yet also if low.
With a target on its history, & global scandals coming to light constantly, the church has felt on its heels my whole life.

Yet there were still moments I’d see it hold strong for a principle; notably out most fervent social justice teacher unpopularly standing against abortion.
It’s not well understood by large parts of our country, but the foundation of Catholicism *is* Philosophy - particularly ensuring a universal, constant moral position on everything.

You can argue their perspectives, but over 2,000 years it was an obsession to drive consistency.
Despite its ultimate goal of justifying non-secularity, it is tremendously responsible for building the foundation of Western Civilization & Rationalism.

It is this very dedication to Logic & consistency that kicked off the scientific revolution, threatening their own existence.
So in today’s climate of an ideology whose starting point is a priori invalid (you are either racist or unracist), the fact that the Church is not only going along with, but firing initiates within it for pushing back, doesn’t spell well for their future.
Taking a gigantic, selective lens to the era of written history no one is going to be considered more patriarchal or colonialist than the Catholic Church.

I have my own qualms w their history, yet I’m also able to see some of the good they’ve done. This movement wont be so kind.
The BLM Leftist movement takes advantage of normal peoples’ innate desire for racial justice & equality, & loops them into 100 other ideological positions they need to support.

They are doing the same thing to the Church & Christians who don’t want to speak out and be ‘racist’.
And these are almost universally good, smart people. They do feel bad for their actions of the past. And they do have a structural obligation in the world to atone for sins & work towards a better world.

The sad part is, in this case it will likely work towards their own demise.
Unlike Catholicism there is no forgiveness in Critical Race Studies- only future submission.

By embracing this movement, the only acceptable end state will be their dissolution.

Which for an institution that previously embraced Logic is a remarkably inept position to undertake.
In this era of mass rejection of religion, with social movements like Intersectionality filling the void as modern cults, there is clearly opportunity to seize upon this innate human quality for greater purpose that is going unmet.
However the Church is embracing an Ideology that unabashedly hates it, rather than offering itself as an alternative to the current moral panic.

Appeasement does not and will not work.
The American principle “All Men Are Created Equal” can be traced back directly to the radical proclamation by Jesus of the “universal value of every human life.”

Rather than supporting a Marxist org, the Church should support the original US principles descended from its message
The legacy of consistency for the Church is in disarray. Plagued by Cathedral-driven historical guilt, it has lost over and over again politically in the US.

And as a result is instead frantically beginning to compromise on what previously were steadfast beliefs and positions.
You think third trimester abortion opposition will be tolerated by this movement?

You think insisting that God makes Man and Woman in only two sexes wont be considered oppressive in five years?

If you think the foundations of the faith will be safe for long, you are delusional.
When the statues of saints are being toppled by a mob and you won’t even say anything besides messages of support, the physical churches will be next.

It’s already happening.
Any other religious group standing up for itself would be justified but when you’ve bought into (or have been shamed into embracing) the Intersectional /Critical Theories worldview it’s clear that you are an institution with a deathwish.

You’ve been, sadly, logically bamboozled.
There’s a Moldbugian Perspective here I’d like to elaborate on (it may be more explanatory & show that this is actually intentional) but I’ll save it for later.

For now plz remember the message: “All are equal in the eyes of God.”

Not “Some animals are more equal than others.”
