Why @aqc_quiz's GJQ1 Z 2020 is awesome : a thread. https://twitter.com/aqc_quiz/status/1282944479444402176
Numbers were amazing yes. Having played one and sat through 3 more sessions, I found out that at the very least 2 people in each set were setting a quiz for the first time. Effectively over 20ish quizmasters made their debut directly at a fest. Quite rare.
The quizzes were set on rather specific topics. This works out in two ways. a) Opportunity to set many qs on the same topic without being conscious about the fact that you'll have too many qs of the same type. b) More enriching than merely an introduction of a lot of topics.
Quizzers and Qms of different experience, interests, and most importantly styles were all playing together. As @snehashispanda puts it on Whose Question is it Anyway(dekho) and I quote "you'll be able to explore more interests and learn more only if you start setting questions".
Above everything, the initiative that @Kushanarchy envisioned, spiralled into a mammoth that only gets bigger from here. Everyone stepped up. No questions asked. It felt like a big fat Indian wedding.
The semi-finals now more or less a general quiz. Eight people come in with different themes and a specific sub-topic. All of it, live on youtube. Rest available on the mailing list. DM @aqc_quiz and subscribe now.
Three instances where contestants themselves pointed out that scoreboard read a little more than what they had scored (scoreboard turned out accurate but whattaya spirit!) + Requested a negative on their pounce when the Qm got a little distracted. Format is good if people are! :)
