I genuinely find it really hard to understand why women change their name upon marriage. It’s something I’ve talked about a lot with friends.

We’ve talked about the idea that a shared name makes you a ‘family’. Mant of my friends find it important to have the same surname as their kids. Hyphens are complicated. I mean, my surname is my father’s, so I’m a part of this patriarchal hand-me-down.
