I am beginning to doubt that a vaccine will get us out of this pandemic mess. There are many questions about immunity…and its sustainability. We should not wait to be saved. We need take responsibility for what we can control. It is possible to get it under control w/o vaccine.

We should act as if there will be no vaccine…it is the only prudent course. We need to take responsibility with the tools we have…and employ best public health practices w/gusto. The virus will not defy gravity; we know what works to reduce the transmission.

The key is that ignoring public health guidance is not about individual freedom…the harm is to the entire society. I am all about individual rights…but harm is not sequestered to those fueling spread. We will all suffer…in so many ways. We need soften the blow to business...

We also need to think about the new normal… business needs to change…so does school. Outdoor classes. Different types of ventilation. Masks. Distance. Common sense. This could last a decade if we are not wise. We are seeing the cost of pretending the virus is not what it is.
