There’s been a lot of misinterpretation from reposts and translations of Lucas’s recent video call events so this thread is to help clear the misunderstandings:

First of all, there’s this thing called “types of fans” in c-ent (cpop) fandoms. +
You may have heard or used the terms “girlfriend fan, mom fan, daughter fan, (older/younger)sister fan, etc”to describe how fans view how they support an idol. The terms are pretty self explanatory, firstly,a mom fan tends to “baby” their idol, treating them like their own child+
a daughter fan tends to treat their idols as their “dad”, cuz the idol gives them the feeling of a father, a sister fan might call their idol Gege/Didi (older/younger bro), treating them like their own siblings, +
While a girlfriend fan, which is the most common type of fan, tends to treat their idols as their actual boyfriend irl, and this is normal for fans and idols to interact in this way. Of course with idols, there's fanservice that exists for fans. +
For eg, during fansigns, mom fan will call their idol “baby”, or some might even ask their idols to call them “mom”. As for gf fan, they tend to request their idol to act cute, ask idols to call them “Wife, honey, baby, sweetie, etc” , to play their bf role for a few mins, etc +
kinds of fanservices.

You might read some repos like P1 of Lucas telling the daughter fan to call him Dad,this is just part of the fan service to make fans happy.

IMPORTANT NOTE: (P2-4) in Chinese Dad calling someone dad is nothing s*xual, it’s more like a joke to joke around +
with frens.

During these events, other idols may or may not reject these requests but knowing Lucas and his personality,he always tries to fulfill fans requests and make his fans happy.Fansigns are one of the only times that fans are able to talk to him directly, which he knows &+
understands, and is also why he rarely rejects (besides the ones which are inappropriate P1&2). There is nothing more that exists between these interactions besides fanservice.

A lot of times, something in one language might sound odd or can lead to misinterpretation in another,+
but keep in mind that context is important and things also get lost in translation. People tend to share things that they want other people to talk about,so we don't always know the full context and cannot assume. In the same way that people share their experiences to their free+
will, many people also help to translate reposts from weibo to twitter for intl fans.

But when translating and sharing, it's important that these translations do not paint the situation or paint him as someone he is not. Many of the translations that have been gaining a lot of +
attention are selective (P1), because of what is thought to be said even though again, these are merely fanservice interactions. Do not let antis try to use these interactions as a way to ruin his reputation and make him out to be someone that he is not. Be careful with what u +
choose to share, not everyone may know him that well and these selective translations and nitpicking will lead people to think that he is a certain type of person.

Disclaimer that obviously no one can control what another fan asks or says to him, but when you share something +
that may do him harm than good, anyone will be able to see it. Let's use these small moments with him to bring love and positivity, and focus on thoughtful messages and advice he gives instead.
Thank you so much @WlNKHEI for helping me out doing most of the translations for this thread ❣️
