In a highly candid feedback from the private sector my friend @amanjb on @Rudaw mentioned a very basic truth about the challenges facing private sector:
He mentions here the view of the private sector side for a simple thing as trade name registration; his lawyers get as red as a tomato when they get out of that department from anger... each is required to submit ten names to see what they can register like a lottery...
Civil servants in Iraq and KRG have not yet understood the process of development of private sector and SMEs
Unfortunately most civil servants have not ever started a small business on their own...
This why it is still highly embarrassing to see that name of companies is still dictated by the outdated the old law of 6 of 1985 for name registration http://iraqld.hjc.iq:8080/LoadLawBook.aspx?page=1&SC=191220051058460
I am attaching a real letter one of our companies got... this law is still applicable in both Kurdistan and Iraq
Till today company names to be registered in KRG and Iraq need to follow this law that mandates all business can not have a name that “not Iraqi or Arabic meaning”
How else could one explain the lack of any action by @KurdistanParl since 1992 except that most members unfortunately are not aware of any grievances of the private sector and have never worked privately themselves?
