going to make a thread on baby rabbit care from my experience with angol
1- enclosures! when first brought home baby buns should be placed in puppy exercise pens as normal rabbit cages are way too small and will not fit a proper litter box, food + water bowls, and hidey house they need a place they could walk around without it being too cramped
2- food! of course before giving bunnies any foods u should always consult a vet first however it’s important to note that most veggies and fruits can be hard to digest so baby bunnies should have a diet that most consists of alfalfa hay and good quality baby bun pellets (1)
with the pellets they should be carefully measured!! + veggies need to be introduced to them in small quantities especially ones like kale, parsley, and broccoli these veggies can cause babies to have stomach problems so introduce them slowly alongside their safe veggies (2)
3- treats! fruits are really sugary and really shouldn’t be given to baby bunnies everyday in big quantities + there are many safe herbal blends that can be added to their hay instead of fruits and these are just equally as good! also please avoid anything with dairy in it!
4- toys! i realized with angel that baby buns aren’t big chewers so most bunny chew toys weren’t that entertaining for them however stuffing a toilet roll with hay or a small quantity of pellets can turn into a fun toy for them! some even love playing with little baby toys too <3
5- hidey houses! no matter what age they are bunnies need a place to hide in when they sleep or want some alone time so it’s essential for baby buns to have one and it doesn’t have to be anything fancy something like a cardboard box with holes would do just fine
6- baby buns are all different when it comes to being handled however bunnies in general are prey animals who feel safer on the ground so please give ur bunnies some space and they will come to you when them need kisses and head pats :’3
7- bunnies are really smart though they do make some messes around their litter box once they reach around 5/6 months depending on their health getting them spayed or neutered can increasingly help them be less messy + u’ll be avoiding hormonal issues that could surface later on
