☆ why am i maintaining? a thread ☆

(i’ll also be dispelling the rumor that sugar free drinks make you gain weight)
get off of this thread if u dont have an ed/disordered eating habits

if ur not actively maintaining a deficit w/ ur tdee youre not gonna find any answers here 🤨
- water weight

ur not drinking enough water (little bitch) or eating too much salt (or too many refined carbs)
simply put, water molecules act as a magnet for ions (the sodium, or Na+, from salt being one) so if youve consumed an excess of salt, this balance is thrown off and the water will cling to the salt (i can explain further if requested
this can work two ways. either youre drink an inadequate amount of water for an ok sodium intake, or enough water and too much salt (notice that ive used sodium and salt interchangeably)
‼️ diet drinks do not cause an increase in body fat percentage ‼️ depending on how much you intake, they can cause an increase in WATER WEIGHT. take a look at the labels and youll notice they have plenty of sodium
so yes, sugar free and diet drinks (coke zero, diet coke, energy drinks, etc.) make you gain water weight, not weight from fat/muscle mass. do w/ this info what you will
i also mentioned refined carbs. these are carbohydrates from processed foods that have little to no fibrous content. fiber basically makes u shit so if theres no fiber to offset the carbs, refined carbs will sit in your stomach longer and absorb water and ik u already cant poop
- you’re plateauing

your body has entered “starvation mode”
this is when you’ve restricted your intake for a period of time (length depends on traits like genes). your body’s instinct is to retain any energy (fat) because it thinks ur gonna die soon. you can offset this with a day of increased WHOLE FOODS intake no processed shit 🤢
be careful with this tho...make sure youre actually plateauing or youll l make yourself look like a 🤡
- you c/s too much

this is very unlikely to be the culprit but who knows 🤨
you c/s foods with calorie laden components such as sauces, condiments, etc. (ie mayo🤢) and unintentionally swallow the mayo for example
if you do this multiple times a day these calories can add up... u can avoid this by c/s in the front of your mouth, less times per day, or even stopping entirely...but again if youre not losing weight, this is probably not why
