People have noted that in 2021 Tourists that visit any of the 27 nations of the EU are no longer protected by reciprocal Health care.
Be clear. You must buy a "comprehensive health care " package . It is NOT a bare bones "travel insurance "

Be aware that the Insurance company will provide cover based on risk. ( eg retired couple in a villa = x, two tens on the piss in magaluf =y. ( the latter is likely £ 235 per week per person )

Be aware the Insurance covers you in the 1 country. If you get damaged in another EU country , you are NOT insured

I am saying this to inform. UK gov is not informing. A broken ankle in Spain costs € 6800.
An American knows that. British people will know that. Make sure you have the insurance. A cut was free, it is now € 145 (now=2021).
Be clear.

Note . as a "non eu citizen" the specific country will levy charges as it sees fit. It is not an EU competence. Even Ireland , with the CTA will charge you €105 at ED.
UK gov is making NONE of this clear to you.

You are buying Insurance. many preexisting conditions will NOT be covered. Some may be but with a supplementary charge. No drugs will be free.
I wish someone else (UK gov) was making these things clear.
