our imperfect view on perfection — a thread ♡
what does it mean to be perfect? what is perfection?
think about it. if you were able to change yourself to be perfect, what would you change? after you figure this out, i would like to present a new question:
why is this new version of yourself perfect? +

our view on perfection is often imposed on us by our society, culture, environment (ppl around us), and a variety of other factors. we are led to believe that perfection exists in one form. but even if we achieve that form, we don't feel perfect. so what is perfection then? +
perfection is a concept, an idea. it is a collection of likings and beliefs. but who put together this collection? and why should their vision be something we have to follow?
perfection is an idea that can be questioned +

why are these things we associate with perfection, considered perfect?
you might realize that they are merely personal preferences. what one views as perfect may be different to another. does that mean that one is wrong? +

no, it means that perfection is not a concrete idea. neither is right & neither is wrong. both are perfection and yet, both are not. the phrase "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" helps explain this, for the same applies to perfection +
perfection depends on who views it. and the most important view is the one you have for it. when you take away outside perspectives, what is perfection to you? +
this answer will be different for everyone. you may believe in what has been taught to you. you may discover your own personal beliefs. you may decide to outright reject perfection. and there's nothing wrong with choosing imperfection +
after years of struggling with the word "perfect" here is what i, personally, have come to believe: imperfection is my perfection, especially when talking about people. we are all imperfectly perfect (or perfectly imperfect) +
this view allows me to accept flaws, contradictions, and all the good in a person, in myself. when talking abt systems, my view of perfection is different. which brings me to my next point: your view on perfection can change whenever +
with that said, i hope this thread helps you reconsider what perfect is & perhaps lessen the expectation of being "perfect."
you control your version of perfection, so change it so you can be happy and leave enough room for growth. don't be so hard on yourself ♡ ily
