I absolutely HATE when a movie/tv plot hinges on a conflict that only exists because a character or characters are not saying something that they could very easily say.
"Batman, Lex Luthor is holding my mom hostage. He sent me here to kill you. But if you help me save her, we can hash this out later!"
"Listen, Tony, I just found out my friend Bucky killed your parents while he was still a brainwashed, mind controlled assasin for hydra. I know you'll need time to process that and will probably have some anger towards Bucky but at least I'm telling you right away, right?"
"Don’t worry, Poe, I do have a plan to make sure the rebellion doesn't die right here and now. Don't go and try to mutiny or anything just because I haven't told anyone that I actually have a plan."
"Anna, your sister has magic ice powers that caused you to get seriously injured when you were little, so she doesn't like to use them and its a sore subject for her."
"If I'm being honest, Captain, every 7 years we Vulcans have to return to our planet to fuck or we die. You'll understand why that would be embarrassing for the rest of the crew or Starfleet command to know, so could we find a way to get me to Vulcan discreetly?"
