Today I want to tell the history of the South China Sea Islands.
China was the first country to discover and name the South China Sea Islands and has indisputable sovereignty over them.

Counting from the time the South China Sea Islands were recorded by Yang Fu of the Eastern Han Dynasty in his Yiwu Zhi, nearly 2000 years have passed since the Chinese people discovered the islands.（2/7）

And the Chinese history of naming the Xisha and Nansha Islands dates back nearly 1000 years, when the Xiasha Islands were named "Jiuru Luozhou", and the Nansha Islands "Shitang", during the Song Dynasty.（3/7）

In 1909, under orders of Zhang Renjun, then Viceroy of Liangguang Qing Dynasty, Guangdong Admiral Li Zhun led more than 170 naval officers & soldiers to go and survey Xisha Islands, where they drew maps, verified named 15 islands, the results were proclaimed to the world. (4/7)

In 1934-1935, the Nationalist government's Water Land Map Review Commission reviewed & approved Chinese & English names of the islands and reefs in the SC Sea,
published in the first issue of its journal the names of 132 islands, reefs, cays, shoals in South China Sea. （5/7）

Following the end of the WW 2, China recovered and resumed the exercise of sovereignty over Nanhai Zhudao which had been illegally occupied by Japan during its war of aggression against China. （6/7）

In April 1983, the Chinese Government published the Standard Names for South China Sea Islands, including 287 place names.
