When Mr Narendra Modi came to power the, he had launched the highly commendable initiative of ‘Startup’ India with the objective of supporting entrepreneurs and building a robust startup ecosystem that would transform India into a country of job creators and not job seekers.

The entire program was managed by a dedicated Startup India team headed by an IAS officer of Secretary rank in the Department for Industrial Policy and Promotion (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce.

However, such an ambitious programme has failed to take off as desired because of a wrong man @rabhishek1982 heading it for five years. The man is the question is Ramesh Abhishek, a Bihar cadre IAS officer of the 1982 batch. And there is a not-so-good story about this officer.

When   @rabhishek1982 was Chairman of Forward Markets Commission (FMC), the then regulator of commodities markets, Ramesh Abhishek and his lawyer daughter Vaneesa Agrawal was a consultant at Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

Ramesh Abhishek and his daughter, who runs a legal firm called “Thinking Legal” started “consultancy services to assist and facilitate”start-up ventures into getting started! In other words, if you wanted DPIIT clearances to get your start up running, you have to go thru Vaneesa.

Abhishek’s long innings at the FMC are already credited to his close links with then Finance Minister, P Chidambaram.

Vaneesa, who practiced in Mumbai when he was also posted there at FMC, moved to Delhi after he moved in as Secretary, DPIIT.

Ramesh Abhishek is already facing allegations that he got his daughter appointed as a Consultant to several groups in exchange of huge illegal gratification against which Ramesh Abhishek would take the above groups into various committees of the Ministry of Commerce's.

A whistle-blower has also filed a complaint against him with the Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) and asked for a detailed investigation into illegal and benami properties purchased by him in Munirka and other areas of New Delhi.

If Ramesh Abhishek is questioned, details of all these disproportionate assets are certain to open a can of worms.
Unfortunately this same @rabhishek1982 is running ahead for SEBI chief....
